| Case of Renal Failure Due To Diabetes & Hypertension |

A Case of a 57 year old male, Mr. P.M.V, comes with the history of kidney failure with high levels of creatinine i.e 6.4
(Normal values - [0.6 - 1.1] ).
Patient is a known case of ishaemic heart disease, advised coronary angioplasty, which he has undergone.
Patient has h/o Diabetes mellitus since last 12 years.
H/o having developed severe bouts of vomiting in the past ,due to increase in blood pressure.
Patient was treated by a renowned Nephrologist of Mumbai. INDIA, without any benefit. Since his kidney function was further getting deteriorated, he was advised to undergo AV fistula--Shunting, to eventually prepare for haemo-dialysis. Patient had intense fear of any surgical procedures.
At this point the patient happened to come to me, to be treated under proper Homoeopathic treatment. |

At this point of time, the patient was taking the following allopathic medicines:
Tab. Nusar-AM ( amlodepine + Losartan) 2----2 ,

Inj. Human Mixtard (30/70)….16units BBF,
Tab Lasix(40) ½ OD,
Tab clopivas(75) 1 HS,

When patient was examined by me , the patient had in both legs oedema ., He was also complaining about leg pain. |
| Past History |
Past history of Typhoid, Father died due to diabetes & heart disease when patient was 12 years old.Patient’s appetite is normal. Thirst is markedly reduced. In food has aversion to spicies,& fish. He desires milk 3 & milk 3 products. Also desires for pickles. Occasionally constipated with flatulence. Sweats on the scalp while eating spicy food.
Life situation & Life space:
Patient stays with wife & son. His son also suffers with severe depression, from last 10 years, which is also his main concern. Due to patients condition being very critical, he is anxious about his own health. He is worried about the financial status , as he will retire from service in a year from now. Also worried about son’s education & future. He wants to correct his son about his studies, but is scared that, the son being strong will hit him,& he may not be able to hit him back due to his weakness ( ? timidity). Till 5 years he was staying in a joint family. Presently he stays separately in a nuclear family with his wife & son. He is even scared to shout in public, as he thinks what people would think of him. He feels helpless when wife loses temper. He likes company & joint family. He was never alone in the house in the past. Now he feels he should go to his brothers house to stay with them. He always felt suffocated.
As a child, patient was very Obstinate, but very good in studies. Used to be tensed due to his brother’s drinking problem. All the financial responsibilities used to be on him. His wife would support him. He always felt that he would lose his job. In this situation he would go out of the house. He used to keep quiet & feel helpless.
He had a laid back attitude & felt very lethargic about himself. He was self sufficient in terms of food and he never had to borrow for it. He would otherwise feel disgusted about it. (Fear of poverty). He read about tragedy of Tsunami in the news, & he could not believe, how so many people could die together at one time unexpectedly. He had fear in the night of being killed. He always wanted reservation while traveling. He said he does not like to take risk. Review from wife suggests that he is a quiet type, keeps things to himself, workaholic, gets scared easily. Always fond of company. Great fear of disease. Obstinate.

On the basis of these rubrics,CALC. CARB 30 I dose was given to the patient on 4 th march 2005.

| Follow up |
After one week (11th March 2005), Patient developed sudden episode of sweating & hunger in the evening at 6 pm. (possibly Hypoglycemia). Patient was advised to reduce Inj.insulin from 18 units to 15 units.
Patient appetite was better, sleep was good, urine output improved drastically, which earlier was very poor.
Patient was kept under observation & in 2 weeks his overall health & kidney function improved by 40%. On 1 st april 2005. he was feeling very fresh, App better. Noted 55% improvement in his overall condition. He was advised to repeat his renal function, to check whether here is any improvement in his S.Creatinine levels. To everyone’s surprise his Creatinine had fallen down to 5.9 from earlier 6.4
Since he was on regular homoeopathic medication, his Creatinine repeated in July' 05 (after 3 months) was showing 3.9. During that time his random blood sugar showed 115. His haemoglobin increased from 10.1 to 11gm %.
Patient after improvement went for a long vacation, which the patient said, he never dreamt of doing so. Patient is very happy after the Homoeopathic treatment, as not only his life was saved, but also could avoid any renal Dialysis or any form of kidney transplant. He has recommended many a kidney disease patient, towards homoeopathic treatment.

| Conclusion |
This case suggests that even if there is any serious or life threatening disease to any patient, homoeopathy works curatively in the shortest time, bringing about harmony & good health.
