A 38 yr old male, Mr. P.S. married and having two children, working in an advertising agency, staying at Andheri East.

Complaints of: -Severe episodes of recurrent colds with headaches and nasal obstruction.This complaint exists for the last 30 yrs of his life. He has tried allopathic medicines as well as taken regular homeopathic treatment from other physicians with only partial relief. No cure was assured by any physician due to its chronic nature.

He was diagnosed by an ENT Surgeon as suffering from chronic frontal and maxillary sinusitis. The patient said that in school days, he had so severe cold with running of nose, that he would require at least 10 handkerchiefs a day. This he said, with so much of haste in his speech and impatience, that I had to ask him to repeat what he said. He also said that he has tried all medicines and that no medicine would help him now and that he has just come to see me, since his wife forced him to visit me.

His colds used to be < hot weather and < in the morning at 7.00-7-30 am as soon he got up from sleep. Worse in pollution as he drives a two wheeler. He also drinks a lot of cold drinks which aggravates him.

10 yrs back he had a nose swelling and tonsillitis for which he was operated. There is a history of gastric problem with pain in the abdomen 10 yrs back for which he was treated by a family physician. Past history of black spots of his skin 5 yrs ago. Father is a diabetic and mother is a psychiatric patient.

Patient is very talkative. Does not want to risk leaving his job. He says he is ver, very busy. Does not take any holidays. Started working from school days. Was a workaholic and likes to keep himself busy. If there is no work he says he would like to stay at home and keep himself constantly busy working.

He says “he is impatient. Wants to work fast and expects office staff to work at his pace. He gets angry when they are not fast and starts shouting at them. He wants to do things today itself, instantly. If not done, he would take his work at home. Very forgetful mind. Constantly thinking, thinks a lot about office and home.

7 yrs back, he lost money when he was working as a salesman in an advertising firm. Later, he started doing business side by side. He used to spend a lot of money on drinks, enjoying with friends, having a lot of late nights. He used to have fun and party and crack a lot of jokes. He used to bunk school and college. Never attended any lectures. He was the rebellious kind. He used to dream of appearing for exams. He used to do last minute preparation as he had to pass his exams. He desires company and drinks in the company of friends.

He was a gambler and he used to play cards. He could not say no to anyone. Feels they would feel bad, hence he use to join his friends for gambling and drinks. He was gullible. He also used to rob money from his father’s pocket to play cards. He was a very angry man but kept his anger to himself. He always had job insecurity, so he kept on working all the time (Workaholic).

He liked a girl for almost 4 yrs, but he could not tell her due to an inferiority complex (as he is very dark complexioned man) and very nervous. He had a fear of rejection. He used to roam a lot, meet people, and organize events for past pupils. He is sympathetic and very hard working.

He has milk aggravation. He is a hot patient.

Analysis- He was a very hard working and industrious person. He used to always feel better by keeping himself busy. He is very impatient and believes people easily. He is very sympathetic towards other’s suffering. He is a very restless and nervous person. He had job and financial insecurity. He had an inferiority complex.

The remedy selected on the rubrics was IODUM 200 1 dose
Follow up after a week patient had no sinus headache throughout the week. His sneezing and cold was 60% better.

He was put on SL for next two weeks with good overall improvement. Later he developed some throat pain which was worse on swallowing.

This was improvement in the direction of cure as he had in the past suffered from tonsillitis for which he was operated. So the level of disease was falling from higher to lower level. He was repeated a second dose of IODUM 200 after a month as he had severe restlessness, impatience and belching due to gases. Thereafter his improvement was 80%. I have observed him for the last one year and he has done well with only 4 doses of Iodum 200 repeated at the interval of 3-4 months.
