Case of Tuberculosis in a Child - Post Primary Complex
Back

A Male child aged 3 ½ years, comes with h/o recurrent fever every 4 hrs , since one day,
* cough < LYING down, < 7pm , unable to expectorate
* Breathlessness, activity reduced, appetite thirst reduced, very irritable cranky, not sleeping too well, Extremely restless, always wanted to be on the move, abusive,
* Child wants to be carried all the time., Disposition to contradict., very matured & precocious for his age.

His case was analysed , and an acute prescription given.
Since he was very restless, showing lot of deceit & precocity.

Tarentula.30 I dose was prescribed . After one day no response with the medicines seen.

Since there was no response tarentula.200 I dose was given , but to no avail.

As the child’s fever as well as his toxicity was increasing, I thought to re-evaluate & investigate the case for any severe lung pathlogy, probably pneumonitis.
I advised him to do CBC , ESR, X-RAY CHEST(PA view)

On seeing the reports , his H b% was 10.2, ESR….92, & X-ray reports showed Right paracardiac Pneumonitis.(most likely Primary complex….of tubercular origin)

His mantoux test also was strongly positive > 20 mm.

Child during this phase was very Restless, obstinate, wanted to out of the clinic, Desires travel. Wanted change of position constantly. Abusive. Disposition to contradict.

Rubrics considered :

  1. Restless
  2. Obstinate
  3. Desires travel
  4. Desires change
  5. Abusive
  6. Disposition to contradict
  7. Hot patient.
  8. Precocious child

Patient at this moment was prescribed TUB.30. 1 dose.
As soon as the child was given the dose, his fever came under control. He calmed down quiet a bit. Coughing was very much better. His appetite for the first time in 3 months improved. He started asking for food.
His ESR improved from 92 to 63 in just 2 days. Haemoglobin increased from 10.2 gm% to 11.5 gm%.

His CBC repeated after 2 months was as follows:
Hb % …….14 gm, ESR ……….23, Xray chest (PA view ) as on 5th June 2006, suggests lungs equal translucency on both sides.

Conclusion :
In this case It shows that in case of a severe lung disease like Tuberculosis, Homoeopathic medicines works rapidly and curatively in the shortest possible time which otherwise would have taken atleast 9 months under conventional allopathic treatment.
